How to Train for a Century Bike Ride – beginners programs

Venus de Miles is an all-women’s bike ride offering 3 different routes – a 32 miler, 51 miler and the Century (100 miles). Deb and I trained for three months leading up to the 100 mile endeavor and finished strong in just 7 hours! The ride started and finished in Longmont, Colorado in good ol’ CO. fashion with torrential downpours and hail! OUCH! The ride was well supported with plenty of aid stations and I would strongly recommend it for all fitness levels.

If you’ve ever thought about training for a ride like this and you’re not sure how to train for it then you may want to seek a personal trainer or fitness coach. I found that no “cookie-cutter program” is going to get you there unless you’re an already experienced rider who has done 50 or more miles consistently. I’ve been riding for a long time and I had to make a ton of tweaks to my own program. We can easily customize a training and nutrition approach that is personal to YOU and YOUR needs.
